Formula
For a straight run, sections = ceiling(net length ÷ target spacing); basic line posts = sections + 1. Rails = sections × rails per section.
Recommended workflow
- Measure each run and gate opening.
- Choose spacing from the fence product guidance and site conditions.
- Draw the layout and add corner, gate, and terminal posts separately.
Limitations
Quantity planning only, not structural or code advice. Wind, soil, fence height, materials, and local rules affect the correct layout.
